AS Monaco Gambit Members Become Free Agents
The Russian organization Gambit Esports has parted ways with one of their Dota 2 roster, namely the one that competed as AS Monaco Gambit. The club has not explained the reasons behind the decision; the team’s future remains unknown.
AS Monaco Gambit was created in 2021 as a result of the organization’s partnership deal with a football club AS Monaco FC. The team started this season with three new members – two Russian players Albert "alberkaaa" Chernoivanov and Andrei "meLes" Romanov, as well as a Belarusian Sergey "HappyDyurara" Horonzhiy.
The team started the year with a disappointing run in the first tour of DPC Eastern Europe: Division I, where they finished 7th with a 1-6 score and were relegated to the lower division. Later the team also placed 7-8th in both the eighth and ninth seasons of Dota 2 Champions League. It remains unknown whether the players will stick together and compete in the upcoming second DPC tour.
Gambit Esports still have another Dota 2 roster, which recently has been performing better, finishing 4th in D2CL Season 8 and second D2CL Season 9. Since they started the year in the second DPC division and placed there fifth, they will still compete in the lower division.
